Because ERETAI is one community served by three organizations, each answering to someone different. The community is the graduates, students, and faculty of the U.S. military’s planning and strategy schools (SAMS, SAASS, SAW, MAWS, JAWS, BSAP, and JADS) and the planners of JECC. The ERETAI Institute, the organization on this page, will answer to the mission of carrying the planning discipline beyond national defense. The ERETAI Foundation answers to the community and to the public that educated it. The ERETAI Group answers to its clients. Put any two under one roof and one bends the other, so each has its own job and its own reason to exist. The vision is three separate entities united in a singular purpose. Today, The ERETAI Group, LLC operates, the Foundation is in formation, and the Institute’s first programs are planned for 2027.

In ancient Greek, the eretai were the oarsmen of a trireme: unseen, synchronized, and essential. No single rower could move the ship alone. Our closing words come from them: Row well and live.

The Foundation keeps the community connected to each other and to the world. The Institute will carry the community’s discipline outward, into places that have no word for it.

Compass listens to the marketplace: members who have gone from uniform to senior executive, CEO, or nonprofit director bring the Institute what the marketplace requires. Compass may begin inside the Foundation before the Institute opens. Calibrate sharpens the talent with programs and a shared standard written with the employers who will read it. Continue opens the doors, so that opportunity reaches the discipline where it has never been.
